The United States struck two boats suspected of transporting narcotics in the eastern Pacific Ocean, killing six people, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said.
"Our intelligence has determined that these vessels are linked to drug smuggling, that they were transporting drugs and that they were moving along a known drug smuggling route," Hegseth said today in a post on Platform X, which was accompanied by a video of the operation, Reuters reports.
As the American minister stated, both attacks were carried out in international waters and there were three "narco-terrorists" on each ship.
"Under (US) President (Donald) Trump, we are defending the homeland and killing these terrorist cartels who want to harm the country and its people," Hegseth concluded.
According to previous statements by Minister Hegseth, since September, the US has carried out 14 airstrikes on ships off the coast of Venezuela, as well as in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
