Russia suspends wheat deal, Borrell: It will cause a global food crisis
Josep Borrell

Russia bears responsibility for the biggest global food crisis yet, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said, days after the Kremlin announced it was pulling out of a deal brokered by the UN and Turkey that allowed Ukrainian wheat to be exported via the Black Sea.

"What we already know is that this is going to cause a major food crisis around the world," Borrell told reporters as he addressed the foreign affairs council.

Borrell also claimed that the Russian military is deliberately targeting grain storage facilities in Odessa, which will further exacerbate the food crisis.
