Russia has threatened to attack ships carrying wheat from Ukrainian ports, a day after withdrawing from the deal.

A statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense states that from July 20, all ships sailing in the Black Sea will be considered potential carriers of military cargo.

"Countries represented on the flags of such ships will be considered involved in the Ukrainian conflict on the side of the Kiev regime," the statement added.

Russia has declared that it will not renew the agreement between Ukraine, supported by Turkey and the United Nations, to create a safe corridor for the passage of grain ships.

Western experts have stated that Russia wants to export its food products and chemical fertilizers. The blockage of grain transport is expected to affect mostly the poor countries of Africa and the Middle East.
