Massive artillery fire, fields filled with craters and trenches. The conflict in Ukraine at this stage seems similar to what happened in Europe during the First World War. This video shows it.
A group of pro-Russian mercenaries in a Novotoshkivske, Luhansk position have neutralized most of the defense. There is only one left. But the local soldier fights bravely to the end, defending the trench where he is from the attacks of Russian special forces that were located just a few meters away from him. This soldier managed to drop a Russian bomb twice from the trench where he was. The enemies then target the exploding soldier's trench. Injured or everything went worse. His fate is unknown.
Meanwhile, the Russians have thrown everything in their offensive in Luhansk, especially in the city of Severodonetsk, but are not achieving any success. At least that's what a security and defense analyst says.
Michael Clarke has told the BBC that Ukrainian forces must make a very important decision whether to try to save the city or retreat to safer territory in the west. According to Clarke very soon Severodonetsk will be surrounded on all sides.
"They seem to want to fight," he said, but added that the battle for control of the city is dominated by the river that flows west of it.
"In the west of that river, the Ukrainians have 4 brigades. The Russians are trying to go after them. "If it happens, those brigades will be in trouble," said the analyst.
