Fuel owners in Italy start a 48-hour strike from Tuesday night, after attempts to suspend the mobilization, with the holding of two meetings of the Meloni government with petrol sellers, did not bring a positive result.

The Italian prime minister reiterated on Monday that she will not change the government's latest decree, which among other things requires gas stations to post the country's average fuel price every day.

"We have already held two meetings, the government did not approve these measures to target this category, but rather to acknowledge that there are many honest professionals," said Georgia Meloni.

But Italian gas stations insist that the increase in the price of fuel does not come from their profit. In addition, they remember that the new government has not renewed the tax reduction approved by the previous government, that of Mario Draghi, and they consider that "a campaign has been launched that they believe is aimed at slandering them".
