Milan prosecutor's office launches investigation: Was Vučić part of the 'murderous tourists' in Sarajevo?

A Croatian investigative journalist has filed a criminal complaint with the Milan Prosecutor's Office against Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, over suspicions of his involvement in the so-called "Sarajevo Safari" case.

According to the allegations, during the four-year siege of Sarajevo in the 1990s, snipers from Italy and other European countries traveled to Bosnia to shoot civilians after being paid large sums of money.

Italian prosecutors have opened an investigation into the identification of Italian citizens suspected of premeditated murder and aggravating circumstances. According to investigators, these "sniper tourists" paid soldiers from Radovan Karadzic's army to accompany them to the hills around Sarajevo, from where they fired on the civilian population.

During the Siege of Sarajevo, 1992–1996, over 10,000 people were killed by shelling and snipers, the longest siege in modern history. Snipers sowed terror in the city's daily life, shooting indiscriminately, including children.

The investigation in Italy began after a lawsuit by writer Ezio Gavazzeni and a report by former Sarajevo mayor Benjamina Karic. Recently, Croatian journalist Domagoj Margetic also filed a complaint against Vucic, publishing on social media materials that he said show that the Serbian president, then a young volunteer, was present at one of the points from which foreign citizens and Serbian ultranationalist units are suspected of shooting at civilians.

Gavazzeni says this macabre activity is suspected to have been practiced by many Italians and other Western citizens who paid for the "experience."

"There was no political or religious motive. They were rich people who were looking for adrenaline and liked guns," he declared.
