Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has agreed to begin talks on the proposed peace plan, and is ready to discuss it with the Trump administration despite its extremely painful terms for Ukraine, Axios reports.

The draft plan was delivered to the Ukrainian president in Kiev by US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll. The document includes major concessions, including giving up territories currently controlled by Ukraine, nearly halving military strength and giving up some weapons.

Zelensky has agreed to begin negotiations and a conversation with Trump is expected in the coming days.

Washington insists that the plan is a "living document"; if Kiev or European partners object to certain points, compromises will be considered.

Many experts have called this plan a "capitulation" of Ukraine.
