This country bans social networks for children under 16: Meta starts blocking!

Meta will remove Australian users under 16 from Facebook, Instagram and Threads starting December 4, to prepare for the law coming into effect on December 10.

About 350,000 users aged 13–15 on Instagram and 150,000 on Facebook will lose access, which will be restored when they turn 16.

Accounts can be verified with identification or a video selfie.

Platforms that violate the law risk fines of up to 49.5 million Australian dollars.

Meta has criticized the law, saying that isolating young people from friends and the community is not a solution.
