Money laundering, Germany "paradise", the Minister of Finance warns of

Money laundering continues to be a problem for the German government. According to the latest Financial Action Task Force report, Germany remains an attractive destination for money laundering.

The report was preceded by Finance Minister Christian Lindner, who announced the establishment of an authority to combat money laundering.

The new Financial Crimes Police Office is expected to be completed within this legislature and will act as a police force investigating suspicious money laundering cases. In advance, Minister Lindner must clarify the details of his plan in the government coalition. So far the Greens and SPD have approved the project in principle.

In addition to the new office, the government will also create a new coordination center for the non-financial sector, which will deal with real estate, the construction sector and gambling.

In the last 8 years, Germany has taken a number of measures to fight money laundering, but they have not given the expected result. In total, the number of cases prosecuted for money laundering is lower than expected and does not match Germany's risk profile," the experts declare.
