Footage showing the Turkish president slapping a little boy who wouldn't kiss his hand has caused an uproar online.
The incident occurred during an opening ceremony for houses rebuilt as part of the urban transformation in the northern province of Rize. After the speech, Erdogan handed over the keys to the houses to the owners. Two children of one family appeared on stage before their parents. Erdogan extended his hand to the children to kiss them.
When the little boy stopped for a few seconds and just stared at the president, he slapped him. The child then kissed the president's hand. At the same time, the president of Turkey has given money to his older brother, something he has done in the past.
Shaking hands with the elderly is a traditional custom in Turkey and shows respect for the elderly person's face. Earlier, the Turkish president was at an inauguration and once again jokingly hit a little boy on the head who waved the ribbon.
