Terrorist attack in Belgium is prevented, 3 ISIS-K Chechens are arrested

Three suspected members of the Afghan branch of the extremist group, the Islamic State, IS-Korasan, have been arrested in raids carried out by Belgium. They are accused of planning a terrorist attack, the State Attorney's office said.

Four other people were arrested during the statewide raids on Thursday but have since been released after questioning, the release said.

Prosecutors said that the seven people arrested in Belgium were natives of Chechnya, while three of them, who were indicted, are suspected of being IS-K members.

Belgian prosecutors said there were no indications that the suspects had already chosen a specific target, but they did not have more details on the case.

However, despite the fact that there were no indications of a specific target, according to the Belgian media, the Belgian investigators did not want to take any risks, at the time when the Olympic Games are being held in Paris, and where the country is on high security alert.
