Lift your eyes from the sky, today's supermom of the year
Full Moon

The full moon of August will occur on the first day of the month.

This is considered a good occasion for all astronomy enthusiasts, but also photographers and those who want to enjoy a heavenly spectacle.

The second full moon, called Blue Moon, will appear in the sky on August 30.

Not only are both of these full moons "super Moons," but they represent the mid-point range in a chain of four such lunar events that began with the Full Moon on July 3.

The supermote will appear larger in the sky because the moon is in its closest orbit to Earth.
