From the war with Russia to the Middle East: How is Ukraine helping in the fight

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that more than 220 Ukrainian drone experts are currently deployed in the Middle East, assisting five different countries in combating Iranian drones.

"We have provided expert assessments and are helping to build a defense system. Additional requests have been received from other states. There are also requests from the American side regarding expert support for their military personnel in two areas of the region," the Ukrainian leader said.

A Ukrainian soldier currently stationed in the Middle East told CNN that his team is conducting joint missions with local troops. The drone expert said they are providing training as well as repelling attacks.

Zelensky added that Ukraine was working with leaders across the Middle East on serious agreements.

He said the US was interested in reaching a deal on drones with the US and was also considering involvement in initiatives aimed at restoring security in the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime traffic hub that has been largely closed to traffic from Iran.

"It is important that all our partners recognize Ukraine's global role in ensuring security and the high quality of Ukraine's security expertise for the protection of life," he added.
