Even the last round in Brussels did not bring anything new in the attitude between the parties involved in the dialogue process.
However, this time the EU came up with a concrete compromise proposal for Kosovo and Serbia.
Seeing that Pristina and Belgrade have stuck in diametrically opposite positions on the issue of the use of the Serbian dinar in Kosovo, the bloc's mediator Miroslav Lajcak, after more than seven hours of talks that took place on Thursday in Brussels, submitted the proposal in question to which he did not give details of, but wrote on the X platform that "he will wait for the next meeting after receiving constructive comments".
According to him, the parties were given enough space and the "proposal for compromise" is an attempt to overcome the differences.
The chief negotiator of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, indicated that "Lajcak's proposal aims to align the positions of the parties regarding the issue of financial assistance from Serbia to the Serbs in Kosovo".
"The position of the Serbian side is that all illegal structures in Serbia should be financed, continue to be financed until the time when the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority is created, because in their opinion, the purpose of the Association is not to ensure coordination of well between the municipalities, but to ensure the legitimization of the presence of Serbian institutions in Kosovo, which would make them semi-Serbian institutions, but not institutions of Serbs in Kosovo", explained Bislimi.
He said that, "for the first time, we have seen openly, documented by Serbia, how they see the process of creating the Association".
The representative of Serbia in this process, Petar Petkovic, emphasized for his part that the new round of talks will take place on May 13, and that he hopes that progress will be achieved. Both I and the experts had the opportunity to present our proposals for the ideas of the EU and for the solution of the dinar issue, because Kurt threatened with that decision the ban on the use of the dinar, the survival of the Serbian people.
"This must be resolved urgently, it is about the existence of the Serbs" , said Petkovic, accusing the authorities of Pristina that they "don't care about the Serbs who want to leave Kosovo, but only care about the Serbs who want to integrate into Kosovo".
