Controversial British influencer Andrew Tate is accused along with his brother Tristan Tate of human trafficking and rape in Romania. He himself, together with his brother, Tristan, Luana Radu and Georgina Naghel are under house arrest after being detained since last year.
While his case continues to be investigated by Romanian justice, Andrew appeared on the podcast "Anything Goes with James English", where he talked about the allegations and everything else that has been mentioned during this time. In addition to not accepting any accusation brought by him, he also shared the feeling he had shortly before his arrest and the reason why he had not stayed in Romania, a country he claims to love very much.
"Why didn't you stay there?", was the question posed to him by the author of the podcast, while Tate seems to have answered him honestly by saying that: Because I love Romania, I stayed there for 7 years. 99% of the Romanians I have met have apologized to me. People I've met on the street, police officers, in court. They all understand what's going on. They're good people.
In 2016, Tate, a former British-American kickboxer, was kicked off British TV show Big Brother over a video that appeared to show him assaulting a woman. He gained internet fame but was banned from all social networks after making many misogynistic comments such as: women should be "held accountable" for sexual assaults. Despite social media bans, he gained popularity, especially among young people, promoting what he presented as a hyper-masculine (Top-G) lifestyle.
