The Special Envoy of the European Union for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajcak, disclosed details of the meeting held today in Pristina with Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Lajçak has said, among other things, that the discussions on the extension of the situation in the North of Kosovo are continuing, and that for this, he has made several proposals to Kurt.
"In the European Union, we still have to continue our discussions on concrete steps. He (Kurti) has presented his views, I have mine. The long meeting, but very important to understand each other's positions better, but we have agreed to continue", said Lajçak.
Lajçak said that the sanctions against Kosovo are not desirable by the European Union, and that the goal is to reach a point when they are also removed.
"The European Union is not at all happy to be in this position to impose these measures and the purpose of this conversation is to reach the point where these measures are removed and return to the previous situation," he said.
Lajcak said that the next day he will travel to Belgrade, where he will meet with President Aleksandar Vucic, while he warned that the EU has sanctions ready for Serbia as well.
"The European Union has made it clear that it has the sanctions ready for Serbia as well, and they will be imposed if the EU countries decide that the conditions or requirements of the EU are not being respected. But this is the decision of the EU and the member states. I will go to Belgrade tomorrow", said Lajçak.
In conclusion, the emissary of the European Union said that he wants no sanctions and that the parties return to the dialogue in Brussels.
