The temperature record in Great Britain that was set for the month of June 1940 and 1976 has been broken.
Compared to those years, the average air temperature in June has increased by 0.9 celsius.
The average temperature of the aforementioned years was 14.9 degrees Celsius, while this year it reached 15.8 degrees.
Reports indicate that June this year is the warmest since records began in 1884.
"This is officially the warmest June on record in the UK, for average temperature as well as average maximum and minimum temperatures," said Mark McCarthy of the Met Office, who works in the team responsible for weather and climate data.
According to McCarthy, the temperature in June reached 32.2 degrees and the Met Office announced that this year's June was the sunniest since 1957.
