Kosovo and Montenegro have signed the bilateral agreement on the open sky corridor, which provides for the permission to use the airspace of Montenegro by airplanes flying from Pristina Airport.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, today met the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic, with whom they signed the bilateral agreement on the open sky corridor, which provides for the permission to use the airspace of Montenegro by airplanes fly from Pristina Airport.
After signing the agreement, Prime Minister Albin Kurti affirmed that this is an important and necessary step. With this agreement, according to him, the road is shortened by 15 minutes.
"This is an important and necessary step. The agreement offers new opportunities as well as shortening the air routes by 15 minutes. An airline that had 4 flights in a day can add one more flight with this agreement. Until now, the corridors were used only for NATO flights".
He also said that today the citizens of Kosovo not only go to Montenegro to rest on the coast, but are also economic investors.
"I had the pleasure of welcoming Prime Minister Abazović to the meeting, with whom we talked about the good neighborly relations between the two countries. Good opportunities for our two countries were the focus of this meeting. Montenegro recognized Kosovo in 2008.
We are grateful that in more difficult times, Montenegro became a refuge for Kosovo in the rescue of over 100 thousand citizens of Kosovo who were expelled by the Milosevic regime. Many cities opened their hearts by sheltering the refugees from Kosovo.
Today the citizens of Kosovo have not only rested on the coast of Montenegro, but also important investors who contribute to the economic connection between our two countries. Today we work closely as two neighboring countries to promote peace and security".
The acting Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic, said today that they have excellent relations with Kosovo.
Abazović, in the joint conference with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, declared that Montenegro's approach to Kosovo will not change, despite the fact that some political processes have taken place there.
"Montenegro and Kosovo are setting an example of how two neighboring states work. We are on the right track to make some projects that I would call history. Our idea is to create easier access for the two peoples of our countries.
