Renewable energy exchange and the development of cross-border energy communities were at the center of discussions launched on September 18 in Italy. Albanian environmental expert Tea Sinamati also participated in the roundtable.

Corridor 8 is also being discussed as an opportunity to strengthen energy links between neighboring countries. The Italian Forum of Energy Communities (IFEC) has started work on an initiative that aims to connect Italy, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Romania through cooperation in the field of renewable energy.

Discussions on cross-border energy communities began on 18 September at the Castle of Colloredo di Monte Albano, Italy. According to Sergio Olivero, coordinator of IFEC working groups and representative of the Energy Centre at the Polytechnic University of Turin, the idea of a Balkan energy community linked to Corridor 8 is taking shape in this process.

Tea Sinamati, environmental expert, founder and administrator of SINAMATI SHPK, and board member of the SIEGRA Foundation in Albania, also participated in the discussions. Through her work in environmental consultancy, Sinamati is engaged in environmental impact assessment and issues related to the sustainable development of projects.

"Corridor 8 can improve connectivity, economic development and cooperation between Albania, Italy and other European countries," said Sinamati during the discussions.

For Albania, such cooperation opens up opportunities to participate more actively in regional clean energy initiatives. Turning this idea into concrete projects will require coordination between institutions and partners, as well as careful assessment of environmental impacts and benefits for communities.

The participation of Albanian experts in these roundtables brings the country's experience to the discussion and helps ensure that Albania's priorities are represented from the early stages of cooperation.
