The deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo are gathering today in the tenth attempt to constitute the new composition resulting from the February parliamentary elections.

Before the preliminary attempt, on May 1, the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, invited the leaders of the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo to a meeting.

PDK leader Memli Krasniqi accepted the invitation, but after the meeting he did not announce a deal on how to move forward.

That same day, the deputies gathered, but the chairman of the session, Avni Dehari, from the LVV, requested the creation of a committee for a secret ballot for the new speaker. However, the PDK, LDK, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, and the Serbian List refused to propose any deputies for this committee, and the session was adjourned.

The constitutive session of the ninth legislature began on April 15 and so far, deputies have only passed two items on the agenda of the constitutive session: the report of the Temporary Committee for the Verification of Mandates and that of the oath of deputies.

But the process has stalled at the third point: the election of the speaker of parliament.

The nomination for speaker of parliament is the exclusive right of the election winner, LVV, but in six votes, their candidate, Albulena Haxhiu, failed to receive the necessary votes, namely 61.
