The roof of the famous Essenza restaurant in Terracina, a coastal town in the province of Latina in Italy, has collapsed, La Repubblica reports. The incident happened on Monday evening. A 31-year-old employee of the restaurant, Mara Severin, who worked as a sommelier, was pulled alive from the rubble but died after being taken to hospital.

About 10 other people were injured in the collapse. Three of them were hospitalized with a reserved prognosis, but none are in danger of life. At the time of the incident, there were many customers, including foreign tourists. The area around the chef's restaurant was closed to carry out rescue operations.

Some witnesses speak of two separate collapses. Among the hypotheses is bad weather, especially strong winds. It did not rain in Terracina during the day, but the entire province of Latina was under yellow alert.

The sommelier had been working at Essenza restaurant for ten years. She announced this in an Instagram post last October, where she told how her adventure at the famous restaurant began.

"It's been 10 years since I walked through that gate without knowing what that conversation and that rehearsal weekend would hold for me. A long journey made up of many moments, full of emotions, that doesn't stop but continues on that path."
