He was walking on the sidewalk! The former speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament

The former speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Andriy Parubiy, was shot dead today in Lviv, Ukrainian authorities announced.

"The victim died on the spot as a result of his injuries. The deceased is a well-known public and political figure born in 1971," the police report states, explaining that all measures are being taken to identify the perpetrator of the attack and his whereabouts.

From the footage captured by security cameras, a man disguised as a 'Glovo' courier allegedly shot him eight times with a gun and fled on an electric bicycle.

Meanwhile, following the massive attack in Kiev that killed 23 people, Russia has been simultaneously targeting several regions of Ukraine with missiles and drones overnight. At least one person was killed and 22 others were injured, including three children. The victim was recorded in Zaporizhia, where the attacks damaged 40 houses, 14 apartment buildings and several industrial facilities.

Explosions were heard in the areas of Pavlohrad, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Lutsk and Cherkasy. Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine's state railway operator, reported that railway infrastructure was damaged in Kiev, causing several hours of delays in train departures. According to President Zelensky, the Russians launched 540 drones, 8 ballistic missiles and 37 other missiles.

Zelensky called on the international community to move from words to deeds to condemn Russia. Even French President Emmanuel Macron, who seems to have started a 'war' of words with Moscow, did not spare comments about Putin. The French leader referred to him as a monster and that he has an autocratic approach.

The Kyiv Independent also reports that a second Russian ballistic missile was then launched at eastern Ukrainian cities at around 5:00 a.m. In response to the attack, Poland scrambled fighter jets at around 5:00 a.m. to protect its airspace, the Polish Air Force said on social media.

"In accordance with the established procedures, the operational commander of the Polish Armed Forces has activated all forces and resources at his disposal," the Polish Air Force wrote in X, explaining that "the measures taken are aimed at ensuring security in areas bordering those under threat."

The new attack on Ukraine comes just two days after Moscow launched a large-scale airstrike against several Ukrainian cities, including Kiev.

The August 28 attack on the Ukrainian capital left 23 dead and dozens injured. Among the buildings damaged were the EU delegation and the British Council.
