Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has launched several diplomatic moves after last Sunday's local elections and his release from pre-election obligations.
Thus, after Eid al-Fitr (April 10-12), the president of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, is expected in Ankara.
The Turkish president visited Cairo last February, the first time in 12 years, and invited al-Sisi to visit Turkey, saying the visit would mark a new turning point in relations between the two countries. "I look forward to answering President Erdogan's invitation and visiting Turkey next April," the Egyptian president said at the time.
Also, at the end of April, a visit to Turkey by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is planned.
Earlier, a visit by Erdogan to Baghdad is scheduled for April 22, where he will raise Turkey and Iraq's demand to jointly deal with the Kurdish PKK organization along the two countries' shared border at a depth of more than 30 kilometers inside the territory of Iraq. On March 15, a high-ranking Turkish delegation headed by the foreign and defense ministers and with the participation of the head of the MIT intelligence service visited Baghdad.
A few days ago, the Milliyet newspaper reported that the long-awaited visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Turkey is scheduled to take place on April 23.
On May 9, Erdogan is expected to visit Washington, where he will meet with US President Joe Biden.
Finally, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is scheduled to visit Ankara in May.
