About 10 million bees have been burned by fires in Alexandroupoli, Greece, as the beekeeper has made a touching confession.
Giorgos Karafyllidis told "Mega" television that on August 20 he had ended his celibacy, even though in the midst of the flames in his area, he had performed the wedding.
A few days later, the fires spread rapidly, burning 220 beehives.
"When the fire broke out, I ran up the mountain and got some hives. I left as I couldn't get them all. I knew that when I came back I would find them dead. 10 thousand burned bees. They burned my whole life, bees are life", he said.
Greece has been dealing with fires all over the country for several days. Hundreds of firefighters from dozens of European countries have gone to the aid of the neighboring country, as well as 49 firefighters from Albania who will fight the flames in Alexandroupoli.
