Court strikes down Trump on H-1B work visas

A federal court in the United States has struck down the $100,000 fee imposed by President Donald Trump on H-1B work visas.

Through a final decision, the judge described this measure as an illegal tax unauthorized by Congress, recalling that the country's president does not have constitutional powers to make such decisions.

This tariff directly hit the technology industry, drastically increasing costs for companies seeking to bring in foreign specialists.

On the other hand, the White House defended itself by arguing that the payment was a legitimate penalty to protect the domestic market, claiming that the H-1B program was being used to replace Americans with cheaper labor.

However, figures show that the fee has proven to be a failure in practice. By mid-February, immigration authorities had recorded only 85 payments.

Before this change, companies paid between $2,000 and $5,000 per application.

The H-1B program guarantees 65,000 visas for foreign professionals and another 20,000 for those with high qualifications each year.
