United States President Donald Trump has declared that negotiations between Washington and Tehran to end the conflict in the Persian Gulf have entered the final phase and that an agreement could be reached very soon.
Speaking to reporters after watching an NBA finals game in New York, Trump expressed optimism about the progress of diplomatic talks.
"We are in the final stages of what will be a very good deal," the US president declared. He added that the agreement could be finalized within "two or three days."
According to the American president, peace negotiations are continuing and the parties are close to a compromise.
In recent days, Trump has repeatedly claimed that the US and Iran are close to an agreement, while emphasizing that the main objective remains ensuring that Tehran does not develop nuclear weapons and restoring stability to the region.
However, Iranian officials have been more cautious in their public statements, emphasizing that a final agreement has not yet been reached and that some issues remain open for discussion.
