Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was asked if he supports the union of Kosovo with Albania during an interview given to the Greek newspaper "To Vima".

Kurti said that Kosovo and Albania are one nation and two states, adding that he won power in February 2021 by promising work, justice and that these remain his priority as prime minister.

"Albanians in Kosovo constitute 93%. We are one nation but two states. I won power in February 2021 promising jobs and justice and these remain my priority. We have excellent relations with Albania. I think most of the accusations against me, regarding the unification, come from the Serbs, because they want Republika Srpska (Bosnia) to join Serbia. They invented the so-called 'Serbian World' as a euphemism for Greater Serbia", said Kurti.

As the Greek journalist insisted on asking him whether he wants union with Albania or not, Kurti said that at the moment the Constitution of Kosovo does not allow such a thing and that the Government of Kosovo is focused on the protection of the country, territorial integrity and sovereignty.

"At the moment, the Constitution of Kosovo does not allow this and we are focused on the protection of our country, its territorial integrity and sovereignty. But I repeat that we have excellent relations with Albania and, although we are one nation, we are two different states", emphasized Kurti.
