In the early hours of Sunday, Russia launched a new wave of massive attacks with 367 missiles and drones in Ukraine, where, according to regional officials and emergency services, at least 12 people were killed and 56 civilians were injured across the country.
Two children aged 8 and 12 and a 17-year-old boy were killed in an attack in Zhytomyr.
Ukrainian President Zelensky said America's silence on Russia's continued attacks emboldens Putin, while accusing the Kremlin of "deliberately hitting civilian targets."
"Any Russian terrorist attack of this kind is reason enough for new sanctions against Russia. America's silence and the silence of others around the world only emboldens Putin."
These attacks occurred just a day after one of the largest offensives to hit the Ukrainian capital since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022.
In the Kiev region there were 4 dead and 16 injured.
Despite the intensification of fighting, diplomatic efforts to end the conflict are continuing.
On Saturday and Sunday, one of the largest prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine since the start of the aggression took place, and the move was considered a positive step, although insufficient to create a clear path towards a ceasefire.
