Passengers who were on the plane that crashed at Toronto International Airport have expressed their surprise at how they escaped the accident without serious consequences.

The plane, which crashed on Monday due to strong winds, skidded along the runway before flipping upside down, causing fear among passengers.

As the BBC writes, some of the 80 people on board ended up hanging upside down, while still tied to their seats.

Analysts link the plane's crash to low winter temperatures, but do not rule out the possibility that it hit something.

One of the passengers, Pete Carlson, told CBS that it was a very strong collision.

But how did all the passengers survive this incident?

"To survive this crash is truly amazing as the fuselage remained intact," said a passenger named Ronan.

As investigators work to understand how this incident happened, experts reveal details that made it possible for passengers to remain safe.

Safety professor Graham Braithwaite explained that planes are designed so that in such incidents, passengers suffer as little damage as possible.

"The design of the seat back or the table on which things are kept, facilitates the process of survival, and the seat belt is important," Braithwaite said.

David Soucie, a safety expert, explained to CNN: "The 16G seats that were installed on the plane many years ago prevented the seats from separating during this accident, saving the passengers. Another thing that helped save the passengers was that the breakaway bolts were in the wings. Once the plane starts to spin like that, if these wings don't break in half, then they cause death."

Fortunately, the incident resulted in only injuries, who received medical treatment at local hospitals.
