Montenegrin Court rejects Vučić's brother's lawsuit after Sky

A court in Podgorica, Montenegro, has rejected the claim of the brother of the President of Serbia for 5,000 euros in damages against the newspaper "Vijesti". The latter published an article mentioning conversations on the "Sky" application in which a former police officer, Ljubo Milović, and a resident of Nikšić, Miloš Bozović, also talk about Aleksandar Vučić's brother, Andrej.

Also mentioned in the conversations are criminal clans, security services in Montenegro and Serbia, and Kosovo Serb businessman Zvonko Veselinovic.

The court considered that, given Andrej Vučić's public status, he should tolerate and the court should tolerate a greater degree of public criticism and public oversight if there is an overriding legitimate public interest in this. The court also considered that the publication of the article is in the public interest and that above all:

"The public has the right to be informed about the content of communications that are the subject of criminal investigations, especially when they mention individuals who have political influence or are connected to public officials."

In this context, the Montenegrin court has ordered Andrej Vučić to pay court costs amounting to 3,403 euros.
