Israel has been gripped by a wave of mass protests under the slogan "Bring the Hostages Home."

Families and a group formed to protect the hostages demanded their release and more concrete actions from the government. Images from the protest showed blocked roads, while participants burned tires in a sign of revolt against the cabinet headed by Benjamin Netanyahu. Demonstrators waved Israeli flags and yellow banners symbolizing solidarity with the hostages.

Some beat drums and chanted various slogans, while others held images of those still in captivity.

"For 690 days, the government has waged a war without a clear objective. How will the hostages, the living and the fallen, be returned? Who will govern Gaza the day after? How will we rebuild our country? Today, it is clear that Netanyahu fears one thing, public pressure," says Einav Zangauker, the mother of an Israeli hostage.

Traffic came to a standstill as protesters occupied both the road and a nearby pedestrian bridge, demanding action from the government. The protest is part of a nationwide “Day of Riots” as Israelis, in support of the families of hostages held in Gaza, call on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reach a deal with Hamas to end the war and release the remaining hostages.

The Forum of Families of Hostages and Disappeared has also sent an open appeal to President Donald Trump, reminding him of his promise to bring all hostages from Gaza home.

"President Trump, you have stated that within 2-3 weeks there will be a clear end to the war. We pray that this is true and that you have set a deadline to end our suffering. You have directly promised the release of the hostages and their return home, now is the time to make it a reality," the forum message reads.

They add that there are currently 50 hostages in Gaza, each of them representing a loved one, brother, sister, parent, child.

“Since October 7, 42 hostages who were taken alive have been killed during capture. Every day that passes as the fighting continues increases the risk that our loved ones will never return. Any additional delay in signing the agreement endangers all 50 remaining hostages.”

The forum calls on Trump to end the deal and bring the hostages home "before it's too late."

According to reports, there are still 50 Israelis being held hostage in Gaza, 20 of whom are believed to be still alive.
