Biden: We will send weapons to Ukraine until the Russian attack ends
President Joe Biden

President Joe Biden says the US is not attacking Russia, but helping Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression.

"Just as Putin made the choice to start this brutal invasion, he can make the choice to end it. "Russia is the aggressor and the world must and will hold Russia accountable."

"We will not allow Russia to intimidate and blackmail our allies with energy," he said. Putin "will never succeed in invading Ukraine. We are ready for anything the (Russians) can do. "We will crack down on the oligarchs and Putin's kleptocracy. We will seize their yachts and villas."

He says the Russian occupation is bringing tremendous human costs, which is clearly seen in the horrific evidence of atrocities and war crimes in the areas they are trying to control.

Speaking from the White House, Biden announced his plans to offer more support to Ukraine. He said he would ask Congress for $ 33 billion in military, economic and humanitarian assistance to support Ukraine "for the next five months."

The package includes more than $ 20 billion in military aid, $ 8.5 billion in economic aid and $ 3 billion in humanitarian aid.

Biden said the U.S. has shipped more than 50 million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine, and has provided 10 anti-blind systems to every Russian tank in Ukraine.

He added that the White House has exhausted almost all of the budget that Congress authorized for Ukraine last month.

The US President said that the reason why he was proposing this additional package to the Congress was that weapons and ammunition for Ukraine should not be stopped, as well as economic and humanitarian aid. According to him, more funds are needed to ensure the restoration of food security in Ukraine.

He urges Congress to pass the new bill as soon as possible to ensure the return of wheat exports. Biden added that this will help restore food security for both Americans and Ukrainians. He said this will also help ease the rise in food prices.
