Pope Leo XIV's Appeal: Stop Violence Against Palestinians in the West Bank
Pope Leo XIV

Pope Leo XIV has reiterated his call to end violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, while also appealing to the international community to intensify efforts to achieve a two-state solution.

After the weekly prayer, the Pope spoke out against "repeated acts of violence" against the Palestinian population and called for urgent intervention by the international community to guarantee progress towards a just and lasting peace between Palestine and Israel.

The Vatican has consistently supported the two-state solution, based on secure and internationally recognized borders, as the path to lasting peace in the region.

During his speech, Pope Leo XIV also mentioned the launch of the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, hoping that the event will serve as a symbol of peace and brotherhood among the peoples of the Mediterranean and beyond.

Athletes from countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe bordering the Mediterranean Sea participate in the Mediterranean Games.
