A 23-year-old German-Iraqi woman has been charged with murder after she allegedly searched for a lookalike girl on Instagram and killed her in an attempt to fake her death.

The woman, identified as Shahraban Kh-B, was initially thought to be a homicide victim when the blood-soaked body of a young woman was found last August in a parked Mercedes in Ingolstadt, Germany.

Some members of her family had even identified her body, but an autopsy report the next day raised questions over her identity due to tattoos that were not identifiable. The victim was later named as Khadidja O, a 23-year-old beauty blogger of Algerian descent. The two girls looked remarkably similar, The Guardian reported.

Prosecutors said Shahraban Kh-B was also accused of offering a man, identified as A, 10,000 euros to kill her husband's brother. She allegedly paid him an advance of €5,000, but he took the money without complying with her repeated requests to carry out the murder.

A 24-year-old Kosovar named Sheqir K, who is accused of acting as Shahraban Kh-B's accomplice and assisting in the murder, will also stand trial. Sheqir K is also accused of incitement to murder, after he handed a list of names of potential witnesses in the case to a fellow inmate he met in prison after his arrest and tried to convince him to kill them, assuring him that would pay for it. The prisoner refused the offer.

Sheqir K denies the accusation. Shahraban Kh-B and Sheqir K will both stand trial for murder and attempted incitement to murder. Both deny murder charges. The victim had accepted a request from Shahraban K, who had written to her on Instagram offering her free treatment at a cosmetic studio.

Shahraban K and Sheqiri took him from home in a car and during the journey they stopped at the mountain. They took Khadidjan out of the car and hit him in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground, "before killing him with 56 stabs."

The prosecution has stated that the victim's body has been completely disfigured. The two accused then parked the car on a street near Shahrabani's house, where the parents found it and thought it was their daughter. They face life sentences if convicted.
