The Secretary General of the Socialist Party, Blend Klosi, briefly stated that Rama's resignation will not happen, and that it is a non-negotiable demand between the government and the students.

Invited to today's "Opinion" show, Klosi stressed that this request by the students cannot be made, while mentioning the protests by their peers in France or Italy as examples.

"Their demand is the resignation of the government. Or not? We do not have a demand that we can negotiate. You should know very well, as in the case we have seen in the protests in France or Italy, or in other countries, a list of demands. When the list of demands is Rama's resignation, I heard this here in the studio, I heard it all day, I heard it today from Sali Berisha in Parliament, the violence that Sali Berisha committed in the streets led him to Parliament today... But, this demand that Edi Rama resign, is not a demand that can be negotiated. What to negotiate about this?", he said.

Focusing further on the protests, Klosi stated that violence should not be used, and that it should be stopped. He explained that the only thing the government can offer the students is dialogue, to then reach an agreement, like the one in 2018.

"As for the protests, let's go back to what we said, it started about 3-4 months ago, it has taken different forms, for a few days there was this form of violence, which I believe has been stopped for two days and I really hope it has been stopped. The violent part. I believe we all have to agree that the violent part, the stone throwing, should be stopped. I believe, knowing and appreciating those who are here in a television studio, Opinion, the violent part should be stopped.

What do we offer (to students)? Dialogue.

"Dialogue is open, dialogue has never been forbidden, especially with students. The 2018 protest is undoubtedly one of those moments in Albanian democracy when a protest turned into a pact for universities and there are achievements," he said.

Klosi also focused on the steps taken by Albania for European membership, emphasizing that by October of next year, agreement on the chapters will be obtained from the EU.

"I think that Albania is at a very positive moment in terms of one of the greatest achievements that we can achieve in these 35 years of transition, which is the relationship with the European Union. Today was again one of those days that I believe, that if it were not for this part of the debate about the protest, you would have had some others in the studio about what will happen with the chapters. What the European representatives said, that within 2027, Albania will close all of them and will also receive the agreement, I believe by October", he said.

"By the fall of next year, Albania will succeed, I believe, and for this we are working hard, the Albanian government, to succeed with this EU cycle, in terms of the progress that Albania is making in the European Union," he added further.
