The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has ruled out the possibility of his departure from politics, stating that such a decision would favor Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Asked if he would be willing to take the first step and leave the opposition leadership, Berisha described this possibility as absurd, insisting that his withdrawal would strengthen the head of government.
"This never happens, it is absurd. This means strengthening Edi Rama and washing his black hand. Rama's sycophants and followers say so. Comparing the two of us is comparing day with night. Now there is a real opposition," Berisha said.
The DP leader also rejected comparisons between himself and Prime Minister Rama, claiming that the opposition led by him represents a real alternative to the government. He left no room for the possibility of withdrawing from politics, linking his stance to opposition to the majority.
