Former Socialist Minister Ermelinda Meksi calls for political dialogue and a serious solution to the crisis, emphasizing that the citizens' demand for the Prime Minister's removal should not be ignored.

"Albania is above any individual, post or party," she writes.

In a reaction regarding the situation created by the massive student protests, Meksi emphasizes that the crisis cannot be resolved by denying the problems or ignoring the concerns of citizens, but through dialogue and a serious consultation process.

"The demand for the Prime Minister's resignation cannot be ignored or become a cause for further clashes. It must be handled with political responsibility, in respect of the citizen's will and democratic procedures. It is time for political leaders to seriously consider the possibilities for a solution that calms the situation, guarantees the functioning of institutions and helps restore trust," writes Ermelinda Meksi.

Meksi calls on political leaders, MPs, party forums, intellectuals and civil society representatives to take responsibility for the situation.

"Open a real process of consultation and dialogue, where the concerns of citizens, especially students, are heard, and possible ways out of the crisis are honestly examined," the former socialist minister writes, among other things.

When the country is in crisis, wisdom speaks!

I waited to write, not because I wasn't concerned, but because in moments like these, words should be carefully weighed and calls should lead to a solution, not escalation.

Years of political experience have taught me that no serious crisis is solved by denying the problem, ignoring resentment, or placing narrow interests above the interests of the country.

During my many years of engagement with the OSCE, I have also been concerned with the importance of addressing corruption, to prevent accumulated discontent from turning into revolt that undermines the stability and security of the country. This experience has convinced me that sustainable stability is not ensured by silencing discontent, but by addressing its causes.

Albania needs wisdom, responsibility and a serious political solution. When trust in governance is shaken and citizen anger is so evident, ordinary declarations and formulas are not enough. Political courage is needed to face reality and find a way out that serves the country.

My experience in politics has taught me that political forums are valuable when they create space for open debate, reflection, and collective decision-making. In difficult times, a political force must have the courage to listen to critical voices, assess the situation without prejudice, and put the country's interest above any other consideration.

The demand for the Prime Minister's resignation cannot be ignored or become a cause for further clashes. It must be handled with political responsibility, in respect of the citizen's will and democratic procedures. It is time for political leaders to seriously consider the possibilities for a solution that calms the situation, guarantees the functioning of institutions and helps restore trust.

I call on political leaders, members of parliament, political forums, intellectuals, and representatives of civil society to take the responsibility that this moment requires.

Open a genuine process of consultation and dialogue, where the concerns of citizens, especially students, are heard, and possible ways out of the crisis are honestly examined.

Violence is not a solution. But ignoring the causes of anger does not bring peace either. Provocations must be avoided, peaceful protests must be protected, and the political crisis must not be allowed to turn into an even deeper social wound.

Albania is above any individual, position or party. No power is more valuable than social peace, the dignity of citizens and the future of the country.

It is time for politics to show wisdom, not by buying time, but by finding solutions. Political responsibility is measured not only by how power is gained, but also by the courage to act when the country's interest requires it.

Let wisdom and responsibility towards Albania prevail!
