The craze for towers in Tirana has also affected religions, with everyone wanting to build one in the Albanian capital, causing the value of land and construction to reach frightening figures.

After a host of oligarchs, politicians, and builders, it has also been the turn of religions in Albania, where such permission has also been granted to the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania.

According to documents available to VoxNews, in April 2025, the construction permit was approved for a multifunctional building serving the Church, 2, 5 and 10 floors above ground and 1 floor underground in Tirana.

The documents state that the building's land is part of the Orthodox ensemble near Kavaja Street, with an area of ​​1201 square meters.

"The new building will be adjacent to the 'Evangelization' Orthodox Church building to the north, to the west to a 10-story residential building, and to the east and south to low-rise residential buildings in the relevant area, subjects of future development," the document states.

Further, provide other details, stating that 1201 is property and 411 meters is square.

"The building consists of 10 stepped floors above ground with a multifunctional academic-administrative function, while the underground floor has the function of laboratories and a library. This building will give and take by utilizing the shared spaces with the lower school," the document continues.

The document also specifies the location where it will be built.

It is between the church and the school, while from the view from "Rruga e Kavajës" it appears to be built in the middle of the road, or in the place where the road should have been to connect the neighborhood behind it.

"The new building in the Orthodox ensemble completes the volumetric composition by closing in a curated and prominent way the view from the entrance to 'Rruga e Kavajas'. This building will create a new urban backdrop for the Cathedral of the Evangelism," the document continues.

It is then written that the building was conceived as a stepped volume in order to enable the lighting of the square in front of the church and at the same time create a friendly presence.

According to the project presented in the document, it appears that the building and tower will flatten several existing objects, even the road in that area, to transform it into the "property" of the Church.

"Here in this view, we can better see the terrace that is being created by scaling the second floor, where the 12 existing cypress trees will be replanted, recreating a green backdrop for the cathedral," the document continues.
