The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has issued harsh accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama, claiming that the latter is orchestrating a deliberate and politically directed conflict between the GJKKO and the National Chamber of Advocates with the sole aim of keeping him in isolation.

Through a detailed reaction after the postponement of his court hearing, Meta denounced the delay in the processes and pointed out that the court's regulations have produced serious negative consequences with the boycott of around 600 hearings since September 1, where according to him, only 6 of them are related to his case, while hundreds of other citizens are unjustly experiencing the same blockage.

Meta's reaction:

Justice with Directing reaches the highest levels.

Today's trial session against me was delayed by about 40 minutes because none of the prosecutors were present, at 10:00, as had been decided last week with the agreement of 2 prosecutors in the case (out of 3 in total).

But finally the door opened and a gentleman in a black suit appeared solemnly.

I remembered that it was supposed to be one of the lawyers appointed by the court, from the list of the Ministry of Justice (Rama 4 Government), to defend me.

But I was quickly disappointed, because instead of coming next to me on the glass platform, he sat across from me in the place of the 3 missing prosecutors.

Before he could sit down properly, the door opened and the jury immediately sat down and took the podium.

The prosecutor, who has no connection to my case, after introducing himself, had only come to read the request of his 3 colleagues to interrupt and postpone the session and to suspend my pre-trial detention.

Wishing that all 3 prosecutors in my case enjoy full health, since we are still in the virus season, I asked the jury again, as I asked yesterday in an official letter, to continue my trial, because I was and am able to defend myself and that this right is given to me by law and the European Convention on Human Rights.

The panel of judges withdrew for a decision and after consulting among themselves, declared in short words that the trial session would be postponed not only due to the absence of my legal counsel, Adv. Bujar Musta, from the bar (he was present in the courtroom), who is unable to participate due to the conflict between the First Instance Court of Appeals and the National Bar Association, because his license will be automatically revoked.

The court also blamed the two lawyers that it itself appointed without asking me at all, selected by it from the list of the Ministry of Justice (Rama 4 Government), for failing to appear.

Apparently, the court approved the request of the delegated prosecutor, who could not return empty-handed to the 3 colleagues who had more important work, for the suspension of my pre-trial detention terms.

But the court, at least, gave us some good news: according to the European Convention on Human Rights, which prevails over domestic laws, at the next hearing I would be able to defend myself, without a lawyer.

What I still don't understand is why today's court hearing was canceled, when the European Convention on Human Rights has recognized this right for me, which I have expressed verbally and officially in writing to the trial panel before each hearing.

And why shouldn't the trial take place today when the prosecutor was there, when I was there (I've never missed a session) and I have the right to defend myself without a lawyer, and when the trial panel was there.

Likewise, I wonder why these sessions were canceled when they could have been held without the presence of a lawyer?

I got the best answer when I saw in the media that the Parliament today decided not to include in the work program the legal initiative of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Freedom Party, Mr. Tedi Blushi, for the resolution of the intentional and clearly politically directed conflict between the First Instance Court of Appeal and the National Chamber of Advocates, which, as we have repeatedly emphasized, is being proven to be a conflict orchestrated by Edi Rama.

But here it is not simply the problem of violating Ilir Meta's freedoms, since I also have the privilege of having the name ILIR, but the fact that this conflict is producing very serious consequences.

From September 1, 2026 until now, around 600 trial sessions have been postponed, of which only 6 are for Ilir Meta.

The very serious consequence is that in order to illegally and criminally keep Ilir Meta in detention, hundreds of other citizens who are accused and deprived of their liberty are suffering, having their court proceedings postponed and their detention terms unjustly suspended.
