The Prosecutors' Association has reacted to Taulant Balla's accusations against prosecutor Arbër Berexha.

Balla accused him of being connected to the DP, because he had released arrested protesters from prison.

"The independence of prosecutors is a guarantee of impartial justice and equal application of the law for everyone."

The Association of Prosecutors of the Republic of Albania expresses concern about public statements that risk violating this independence and calls on political representatives to exercise the right to criticize responsibly, avoiding unsupported allusions targeting prosecutors.

"Accountability must be based on facts and legal procedures, while prosecutors' decision-making must be free from political pressures and influences," the statement from the Prosecutors' Association reads.

The leader of the Socialist Party (SP) group, Taulant Balla, during a statement to journalists after the Parliament meeting, spoke about the protests being held in the capital and the violence exercised by the State Police against the protesters.

He attacked Tirana prosecutor Arbër Berexha, who had released the protesters the day before. According to Balla, this prosecutor is known for his political ties to the DP.

"A Tirana prosecutor who is known for political ties to members of the Democratic Party, who with a drop of his pen dismisses the case. I don't know if the High Inspector of Justice is in office or I hope he is in office," said Balla.

We recall that a day ago, prosecutor Arbër Berexha ordered the release of the protesters, saying that the arrests are illegal.
