As part of the moves requested by Prime Minister Edi Rama for the heads of institutions subordinate to ministries, Blerina Gjylameti of the National Food Authority (AKU) and the General Head of Customs , Besmir Beja, have resigned from their positions.
This decision appears to come after the order of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who on Thursday afternoon asked ministers for the resignation of the directors of state agencies in Tirana and in the districts under their jurisdiction.
The directors affected will continue to remain in office as the first phase of this operation only concerns administration through a letter of resignation.
The second phase will continue with the analysis of the performance of each resigned director. The government has so far made no comment on this wave of requested resignations.
There are more than 130 agency leaders at the central and local levels who must submit the required resignations.
