The media is considered as the fourth power and with the role of transparency and public denunciations of misgovernance by the other three powers; legislative, executive and judicial.

But, there are cases when the media turns into a weapon for protecting the interests of the businesses of their owners, even when these businesses are caught in violation.

About two months ago, the owner of Focus Media Group, Irfan Hysenbelliu, was accused by the media of launching an attack on the Tax Directorate only because the latter had started investigations for tax evasion in his businesses.

Now, the Customs Directorate has ended up targeting Hysenbelli. This time, News24's investigation reveals the scandal that employees who are on trial in Greece are being promoted in the ranks of customs.

Doubts that there are other interests behind the article and not those of denouncing customs mismanagement (not that Gent Gazheli has excelled in this post) are immediately raised when in every paragraph of it the institution is almost avoided (that is, the Customs Directorate) and the institution is equated with Ghent Gazhelin.

So the message is clear and addressed to the Director of Customs, possibly with the secret code inside.

We do not start this article to defend Gent Gazheli. The latter came as director of customs after the scandal that erupted as Ambassador to Turkey, where he ignored the request of Alvin Berisha's father to help take his son from Syria.

After that, his removal from this post was requested. Rama took him and rehabilitated him at customs, where he had worked before becoming ambassador. According to some voices, in customs, Gazheli started as a simple guard, to climb the stairs and to be at the head of them today.

In January of this year, Gazhelin, who according to media reports is also known by the nickname "Çorapja", given to him by his friends at customs, was accused of having employed a mother and daughter at Customs, the former as director of human resources while the second of the Antitraffic Directorate.

In order to get out of the traffic, just a few days ago, several crates were released from the Port of Durrës, officially and on paper with bananas, but unofficially and in reality with cocaine. The container containing the crates was opened before being scanned. The police accompanied more than 20 controllers and customs managers of the Port of Durrës.

From the investigations so far there is no data, but it is suspected that the Port of Durrës has turned into a port controlled by drug traffickers, who are increasingly using it as a gateway for Latin American cocaine to Europe.
