An amount of 500 thousand euros is the "tip" of the Ministry of Defense for the companies that built the helicopter hangar in Farka. An investment from several years ago, which has been visited and "inaugurated" several times by heads of state. The Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, has visited Farka, while the investment has been advertised several times by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

But, when it seemed that the investment would be functional, due to these inaugurations and visits, the Ministry of Defense allocated another amount to complete it. The amount is a contract supplement for the winning firms, which are "rewarded" for good work.

According to documents available to VoxNews, the Air Force Command in Tirana has opened a formal procedure for the construction of the hangar in Farka. The subject of the procedure is "modification of the contract for the construction of a helicopter hangar at Farka Air Base."

Military Unit 3001 in Farka says that the limit fund given to companies is a full 47,760,458 lekë, or about 500 thousand euros. A considerable amount, considering that it is an additional contract.

The contract extension comes a few months after Minister Pirro Vengu visited this hangar, in January 2025. "Very soon the 'Black Hawk' helicopters recently put into use by the Albanian Air Force will have their new modern 'home', which meets all the conditions for the realization of their mission," said Vengu.

According to him, Vengu was accompanied on this visit by the Commander of the Air Force, Brigadier General Ferdinand Dimo, and the Commander of the Farka Air Base, Colonel Ervin Buzi.

"It is intended that Aviation Day in our country on April 24th will be celebrated in the premises of the new hangar," said the attendees, while even after this celebration there are additional contracts. "The new helicopter hangar at Farka Air Base is an investment of about 489.8 million lek and was made in cooperation with the American side to specify the technical specifications in accordance with the best standards," says the ministry.

So, the investment of almost 5 million euros was not complete and another 500 thousand euros will be needed to put it into operation. Wasn't it inaugurated and celebrated in those hangars?!

In 2023, the Ministry of Defense opened a tender for the "construction of a helicopter hangar at Farka Air Base." The amount, including VAT, was around 5 million euros.

9 companies participated in the tender, 8 of which were disqualified and the winner was declared the joint venture of economic operators "AGRI CONSTRUCTION" and "ALKO-IMPEX General Construcion".
