A serious incident has occurred in Padua, Italy, where a 51-year-old man of Albanian origin was found dead at a construction site where renovation works were being carried out.

The victim has been identified as Altin Kokici, owner of a wall construction company in Sossano, in the province of Vicenza.

According to Italian media, the 51-year-old is suspected of having fallen into the elevator shaft in the building, losing his life as a result of his injuries.

His body was found overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, after his family reported him missing. They noticed that the man had not been heard from since the afternoon and, through the phone's location, determined that he was still in the construction site area.

The 51-year-old's van was parked near the building, with the trunk still open, which added to the family's concern.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers from the Padua Police Headquarters entered the building and attempted to contact the victim by phone. The cell phone signal led them to the elevator area, where they found the Albanian's lifeless body.

Emergency crews and firefighters also arrived at the scene.

Meanwhile, Italian authorities have launched investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and to determine whether it was an accident at the construction site.
