Albanian singer Bleona Qerreti is returning to her Albanian repertoire, re-recording and reworking 20 songs from her catalog as part of two planned visual albums. The project kicks off with “ERA,” a new version of one of her early songs.
Bleona's Albanian catalog was previously removed from digital platforms by the singer's own decision, at a time when she was focusing on building a career for the English-speaking market. With the new project, she aims to bring back part of this repertoire and present it in a reworked form.
In parallel with the return to songs in Albanian, Bleona is also releasing new material in English, including "RIDE IT" and "BOY GONE BAD." According to the announcement, an EP produced by Timbaland is also expected.
The project is seen as an attempt to unite two stages of her career: the period in Albania, where she released eight albums in Albanian, and her later engagement in the American market.
In her international career, Bleona has reached number one on Billboard Dance Club Songs with "I Don't Need Your Love", while she has also had roles in film productions.
The return of the catalog comes at a time when more and more artists are reconsidering their relationship with their early repertoire, rights and control over their musical heritage. For Bleona, the project serves as a link between the repertoire that made her famous in Albania and the phase of her career in the international market.
