From October 1, the minimum wage in Kosovo will be 350 euros

From October 1, the minimum wage in Kosovo will be 350 euros per month including all ages. There are over 150,000 employees, mainly in the private sector, who benefit from the entry into force of the decision.

This action has been described as a positive step by economic expert Jakup Bellaqa, within the many measures that have been taken.

Previously, the minimum wage was 264 euros. It was increased two years ago, but for the first time the new level of the minimum wage is set, which will be 2 euros per regular working hour.

The minimum wage in Kosovo has been 130 euros for workers under 35 years old and 170 euros for workers up to 65 years old, being the country with the lowest minimum wage in Europe.

Meanwhile, the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo has described the increase in the minimum wage to 350 euros gross, which is expected to enter into force on October 1, 2024, as positive for the improvement of living conditions, but has expressed concerns that it may not be enough to cope with rising prices and the cost of living.
