The Lek has started to strengthen against the Euro and the Dollar. For a week, the Euro has started a continuous decline in the foreign exchange market. The trend comes after the peak reached in January, where 1 Euro was exchanged for 117.46 Lek.
Currently, according to the official exchange rate, 1 Euro is exchanged for 115.88 Lek.
At the end of December, the euro reached the lowest level of exchange with only 112.83 Lek. The first days of January marked growth, but now the European currency is losing its power in the market again.
Predictions are that the Lek will continue to remain stronger against the Euro.
According to experts, a stronger local currency is favorable for exporters and those who have loans in Euro, while a weaker Euro affects mostly families whose source of income is emigration.
Even the US Dollar has lost points against the Lek in the local market. From 111.75 Lek that was exchanged a week ago, it has currently decreased to the value of 106.88 Lek.
