Electronic cigarettes are blocked at the customs of Durrës. Contraband to

Albanian customs have blocked a quantity of over 34 thousand electronic cigarettes.

According to the official announcement of the General Directorate of Customs, a container loaded with electronic cigarettes in the amount of 1,500 kg or 34,420 pieces has arrived in the Port of Durrës with the ship MCS Caledonia II, departing from Gioia Tauro, Italy.

According to the announcement, the control exercised by the Albanian Customs authorities showed that the electronic cigarettes were without a fiscal stamp of the Republic of Albania or the Republic of Kosovo.

For this reason, the customs administration has suspended the transit procedures, the container has been blocked at the container square in the Port of Durrës and a referral has been made to the Prosecutor's Office of the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction, Durrës, for the criminal offense "Smuggling of goods that excise duty is paid", provided by articles 172 of the Criminal Code.

This is the number of times that the customs block smuggled cigarettes that are destined to be released on the market without paying the corresponding fiscal obligations.
