"Scan Intel" has analyzed the official figures from the "Bank of Albania" to understand the progress of the level of deposits according to districts. This calculation was made on the amount of deposits in the banking sector according to the 8 main districts that appear in the institution's statistics, while the other 4 districts are summarized as "other".

Deposits by region refer to the total deposits, that is, individuals and businesses, and the period considered is that of the last quarter of 2023. The figures signal that the total deposits in the banking sector have reached the level of 1.59 trillion lek, in 5% increase compared to the same quarter last year.

If we move the analysis according to districts, we see that Korça turns out to be the district with the highest increase in deposits in the banking sector for the last quarter. Compared to the same quarter of a year ago, we see that the deposits in this district have reached close to 61 billion ALL, thus establishing an increase of 9.2%. Fieri and Tirana follow in this ranking with an increase in "savings" to 7.3% and 7.1% respectively. Districts such as Lezha and Durrësi also recorded a significant increase with 5.8% and 5% respectively. Meanwhile, according to the data, the growth was lower in districts such as Shkodra and Vlora.

The districts covered by the "Bank of Albania" have had a positive performance of deposits, not registering any decrease during the fourth quarter of the year we left behind. What is noticeable from the figures is the fact that the districts with the largest increase in deposits are mainly winter tourist ones such as the district of Korça.

The figures show that total deposits, including deposits in local and foreign currency, are presented with growth in each district. According to the data, the growth of deposits in foreign currency against the local currency has doubled or tripled. Meanwhile, in Tirana, deposits in Lek increased by 13%, while deposits in European currency increased by only 3%. This increase in foreign currency deposits is related to the favorable exchange rate conditions in recent times./Scan
