Fire in Delvina visible from space! Nasa publishes the footage
Fires in Albania / Nasa

NASA has published on its official website satellite images of the fires that have engulfed southern Albania, including a large hearth near Delvina, which forced the evacuation of over 2,000 residents.

According to NASA, the images were captured on July 24 by the Terra satellite, through the MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) instrument.

In them, the areas covered by the fire and the dense clouds of smoke spreading in different parts of the country are clearly visible. Active hotbeds are marked with red dots, while smoke appears gray.

"The largest fire at the time of the image was the one near Delvina, in the south of Albania" - says the NASA publication.

According to data from Zoom Earth dated July 27, the largest fire had engulfed over 23,000 hectares, while two other hotbeds had burned 17,997 and over 2,900 hectares, respectively. Earlier, on July 25, Albanian authorities reported three people injured by burns and smoke inhalation, as well as the evacuation of thousands of residents from endangered areas.
